TRAI seeks industry comments on FDI hike

India's telecom regulator on Friday issued a consultancy paper seeking suggestions from the industry on hiking foreign investment limit in the broadcasting sector.

The industry players have to revert with suggestions by Jan 30, a press release on the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's website showed.

TRAI is seeking suggestions on hiking foreign investment limit in cable network, direct-to-home services and uplinking hub/teleports to 74% from 49% now.

The regulator has also sought suggestions on hiking foreign investment limit in FM radio to 49% from 20% now and to 49% in news and current affairs TV broadcasters from 26%, the website showed.
