Mobile calls to helpline may no longer be toll-free
The Indian mobile customer, used to making calls to customer-care call centres for free, may no longer have that luxury.
CNBC-TV18 reports, quoting exclusive sources, that Indian mobile operators have approached the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) approving its nod to levy a charge for making calls to the helpline.
Several countries allow telecom companies to charge users for contacting the call centre and the move behind Indian telecom companies, sources say, is to reduce frivolous calls to the centres and help improve margins.
